The Complete Tarot Kit is my labor of love! I had so much fun creating this magical voyage of discovery that really teaches you how to read your own tarot cards.

The Complete Tarot Kit includes my book Introduction to Tarot (246 pages) that’s illustrated with both the Rider-Waite-Smith and Crowley Thoth tarot decks, plus a mid-size RWS tarot deck, a mid-size Thoth tarot deck, a reference sheet for all 78 cards in both decks, and a card layout template for doing advanced tarot readings.

The cost is $43.95 so The Complete Tarot Kit is affordable. Thank you to Stuart Kaplan and everyone at U.S. Games Systems, Inc. for making tarot and oracles available to everyone!

The Complete Tarot Kit was published in October 2002 by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. The first edition in one month, and is in continuous publication. Thank you for your support!

My book Introduction to Tarot, which is part of The Complete Tarot Kit, was so well received that it was published separately in October 2003.

RAVE REVIEWS for The Complete Tarot Kit

“This is the book that made an avid Tarot reader of me! Gracefully written and accessible, it will inspire you to read rich meanings into the imagery of the cards. I find myself returning to it again and again.”
-Donna Gillespie, author of The Light Bearer and Lady of the Light

“This is a clear and compact guide, with many gems stored inside it. Levitt presents the tarot as a way to join with the rhythms of nature, as natural as the yin and yang of breath.”
– Rachel Pollack, author of Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom and The Complete Illustrated Guide to Tarot

“Susan Levitt’s readable book is a perfect introduction to reading tarot cards.”
– Brian Williams, author and creator of Renaissance Tarot, Pomo Tarot, and Minchiate Tarot

“Susan Levitt presents an engaging work for beginners with tarot. I particularly like the section on soul cards.”
– Pamela Eakins, author and creator of Tarot of the Spirit

“New on the augury front is Susan Levitt’s Complete Tarot Kit (U.S. Games Systems, $40), which includes two different decks along with a workbook, chart, and introductory book by Levitt, who has been reading cards professionally for thirty years and counts Academy Award winners among her clients. The guidebook began as a stack of photocopied notes in 1986. ‘People kept asking me to teach them what I knew, so I’d hand out copies of my notes. Hundreds of copies — but then Kinko’s got more expensive.’

When she first took up the hobby as a youngster in Chicago, tarot cards ‘were considered the devil.’ So she moved to an Oakland loft. These days, she says, ‘everyone in Berkeley reads the cards. It’s like having a therapist.’ She hopes her new kit, designed with beginners in mind, ‘will help the rest of the world learn to do what we’ve been doing in the Bay Area for decades’.”

“For spiritual seekers, why not give an astrological chart or tarot reading? Voted best astrologer by SF Weekly readers, Susan Levitt combines knowledge of Western and Taoist astrology and offers spiritual services in tarot, astrology charts and forecasts (a combination of Western and Chinese), and on-site feng shui consultations).

Just in time for the holidays is Levitt’s Complete Tarot Kit ($40), which comes with a copy of her Introduction to Tarot book, a tarot journal, reference chart, and two tarot decks — the Rider-Waite as well as the more esoteric Crowley cards. Author Levitt has also written a number of books on the metaphysical arts. The popular Taoist Astrology title ($15) is a fun option for the office party grab bag. Certificates, books, and tarot kits are available at www.susanlevitt.com.”

IN-DEPTH RAVE REVIEW for THE COMPLETE TAROT KIT

“The Complete Tarot Kit is a well developed kit designed with the beginning Tarot student in mind and has everything you need to begin a Tarot journey. The kit comes with two Tarot decks. The Rider-Waite, and Crowley Thoth decks are Special Edition decks that measure 2 1/4 x 3 1/2″. The size of these two decks are a nice size to work with. They are easy to handle and shuffle, and I liked working with them.

An Introduction To Tarot book written by Susan Levitt is a soft cover, spiral bound book that is included in the kit. The book is beautifully illustrated throughout with images from varying decks but the included decks are the main focus of the book. The same cards, from each deck, are shown in a side-by-side format with Ms. Levitt’s discussion of them.

Susan Levitt covers each card individually, including numerology, the astrological associations, and even the Hebrew letters that are shown on the Thoth deck’s Major Arcana. When discussing the elemental and astrological associations, the glyphs (pictorial signs) for these aspects are shown for each card, which is an excellent way to commit them to memory.

The book also includes a chapter on reading the cards and two chapters on spreads. The first chapter covering spreads initiates the reader with basic spreads from one to five cards. Susan Levitt discusses yes/no questions, multiple choice, and also touches on cards that repeatedly show up in readings. The second chapter covers larger, more advanced spreads, like the Seven Card Chakra spread, Tree of Life and two more that are new to me. I liked the spreads included in this section, especially the Woven Spread.

The Introduction To Tarot book is packed with added features, such as:
Instruction to the Elements, Astrology, and Numerology
Introduction to Tarot and Chakras
Tarot and Numbers – determining personal cards
Charts of Significator Cards for adults and children
Tarot and Pets – how to include your pet companions in your Tarot life
Using a regular deck of playing cards
Rituals with Tarot

The back of the book includes further instructions on the treatment of your Tarot deck, a Tarot alter, more charts with keywords for the Major and Minor Arcanas, Court Cards and elemental associations, a glossary of terms, and also a list of recommended resources by the author.
Susan Levitt writes in a comfortable and easy flowing style. The way the book is structured is extremely helpful and from beginning to end, each chapter builds on the previous chapters. The book is an excellent instruction book.

The Complete Tarot Kit also includes a soft cover, spiral bound Tarot Journal. The journal goes hand-in-hand with the introductory book. The journal begins with 30 days of journaling while working with the three card Mind, Body, Spirit. The pages contain a place to record the cards drawn, followed by questions, and offers blank lines with which you can fill in your interpretations and impressions. The journal includes these fill-in pages for each spread covered in the book, and includes blank pages in the back for notes. This is an excellent way to learn about journaling.

A truly unique feature is the Quick Reference Chart. The chart is a reversible stand-up guide when folded into a triangular shape and secured. It has a glossy coating which makes it easy to wipe off. The chart is a list of all the cards complete with keywords. The Rider-Waite correspondences are covered on one side and the Crowley Thoth are on the reversed side. A full color spread sheet with the Woven Spread is also included in the kit.

Everything in The Complete Tarot Kit comes in a beautifully decorated, sturdy box with a magnetic closure to keep everything contained within it secure. The decks are maintained safely in the slotted sections created for them. The box makes this kit perfect for travel and also an incredible gift idea, especially with Christmas coming up.

The Complete Tarot Kit includes everything needed for beginner to intermediate students. The book within the kit is an excellent instruction guide. Susan Levitt’s teaching and writing style makes learning the Tarot so easy for those new to the Tarot. Young adults or teenagers can easily learn the Tarot working with the enclosed materials. The book is also an excellent learning source for intermediate Tarotists, as well. If I had this kit when I began my Tarot journey, I believe I would have had a firmer foundation built more quickly than I did. The kit is a well created resource, and a valuable asset for beginners, intermediate, and collectors alike.
