LightFestivalHighlights this week are a festive double Pig Thursday, and a new Moon at 5:36 pm PT on Sunday that begins Fire Rat month on Winter Solstice — the longest night of the year!

Mon Dec 15 is Metal MONKEY (white Monkey) day. Many lunar aspects: Moon squares Venus, trines Mars, is opposite Uranus, and squares Pluto so emotions can be erratic, especially on a Monkey day. Fortunately Sun conjunct Mercury trines Jupiter for fresh ideas and inspiration. Uranus square Pluto brings out the rebel in Monkey so not a day to conform or follow the rules. Monkey day luck strong for Monkey, Rat, Dragon, and Snake. Monkey hours 3 – 5 pm.

Tues Dec 16 is Metal PHOENIX (Rooster) day. The Moon sextiles Jupiter to get along well with others, plus the Sun trines Jupiter to see the big picture and gain understanding. This is helpful because Venus conjunct Pluto can bring up problems of power dynamics in relationships. Venus squares Uranus so do not provoke a sudden fight. Phoenix day luck strong for Phoenix, Ox, Dragon, and Snake. Phoenix hours 5 – 7 pm.

Wed Dec 17 is Water DOG (black Dog) day. Dog days are lucky in Horse year because Dog and Horse are best friends. Moon sextiles Mercury and trines Neptune to be more intuitive, and able to communicate your feelings and insights. Stay true to your convictions and trust what you know is true. The ongoing Uranus square Pluto inspires people to fight for the underdog. Dog day luck strong for Dog, Rabbit, Tiger, and Horse. Dog hours 7 – 9 pm.

Thurs Dec 18 is a double Pig day: Water PIG day in Wood Pig month. Time for some fun and light-hearted activities on a double Pig day! The Moon sextiles Venus for enjoyment in life, pleasant times, and Piggy’s favorite a good meal. Moon square Mars, and Uranus square Pluto, could bring conflict. But Pig’s cheerful friendliness and natural geniality smooth out problems. Double Pig day luck strong for Pig, Tiger, Rabbit, and Sheep. Pig hours 9 – 11 pm.

Fri Dec 19 is Wood RAT day. Moon conjuncts Saturn so people are serious today, and might feel isolated or neglected. The ongoing Saturn square Neptune can be confusing so stay grounded and realistic. Good to use Rat organization skills to address practical matters. It’s best to tie up loose ends before the new Moon on Sunday. Rat day luck strong for Rat, Ox, Dragon, and Monkey. Rat hours 11 pm – 1 am.

Sat Dec 20 is Wood OX day. Neptune is squared by both Moon and Saturn so not a day for planning or serious discussions. But fine for seeing a film or going to a holiday party! Mercury, Venus, and Pluto all conjunct so relationships are important; loved ones might need some support and encouragement. Under Ox influence, stay steady and focused. Energy winds down to new Moon tomorrow. Ox day luck strong for Ox, Rat, Snake, and Phoenix (Rooster). Ox hours 1 am – 3 am.

Sun Dec 21 is Fire TIGER (red Tiger) day on a new Moon new that starts Fire Rat month! This can be problematic because cautious Rat is opposite Horse, and this is still active Horse year. Tonight is Winter Solstice, the longest night in the northern hemisphere. Chinese New Year begins on the second new Moon after Winter Solstice, so two more lunar months before Wood Sheep year 2015. Fortunately, this new Moon is in a lucky trine to Jupiter bringing warm feelings and concern for others. But the conjunction of Mercury, Venus, and Pluto continues for a serious tone in relationships. Plus Mercury and Venus square Uranus so easy to lose your temper or start a fight on Fire Tiger day. Instead, create calm and peace on Solstice night. An excellent time for feng shui improvements for a peaceful Solstice. Tiger day luck strong for Tiger, Dog, Horse, and Pig. Tiger hours 3 am – 5 am.

Good luck and have a great week,

Susan Levitt
