January 31 2018 is a full Moon that’s a super Moon, meaning it will appear larger and brighter than usual in the night sky. This full Moon is also a Blue Moon that occurs when there are two full Moons during one month of the Gregorian calendar. January 1 and 31 are both full Moons, so January 31 is a Blue Moon. This also a total lunar eclipse when Earth’s shadow falls on the full Moon. This shadow will have a reddish tint, and is referred to as a Blood Moon.

This super Blue Blood Moon eclipse is in creative and and flamboyant Leo. Fire sign Leo is the ruler of the 5th house of creativity, art, and children. Perhaps the eclipse can reveal hidden artistic talents. The Sun conjuncts Venus to socialize and attract new people, and express creativity through relationships. Venus aspects Jupiter to seek beauty, and can inspire creative expression, but can also inspire living large and overspending. Saturn and Neptune are unaspected so people can be unclear about their actions or objectives.

Fortunately, Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto all in Capricorn help keep things grounded, as does the Ox influence during these last two weeks of Ox month — and the final two weeks of Fire Phoenix (Rooster) year. Ox and Phoenix are very compatible because they are both realistic, hard-working, and pragmatic. Time to clean up, organize, and prepare for the next new Moon that begins the year of the Dog.

February 2 marks the solar point between winter solstice and spring equinox. Animals awaken after winter hibernation, hence Groundhog Day for augury from the movement of animals. The seasonal wheel turns towards springtime. Chinese New Year is a spring festival that begins on the new Moon on February 15 2018. Contact me for your 2018 Dog Year astrology forecast. For the next two weeks, luck is strongest for Fire signs Leo, Sagittarius, and Aries and those born during the years of the Monkey, Rat, Ox, and Dragon.

Happy full Moon,
