Feb 2 marks the solar point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. It’s the pagan holiday of Imbolc, the birthing of the lambs, also called Candlemas. And a time for divination about weather, hence Groundhog Day.
If Candlemas is fair and bright,
winter has another flight.
If Candlemas brings clouds and rain,
winter will not come again.
And
If Candlemas Day is bright and clear,
there’ll be two winters in the year.
Wishing you a peaceful Imbolc,
Susan
My father taught me that 2nd February is Candlemass. He always said that if the weather is nice on that day winter is coming and if it’s horrible winter is gone. Thanks for the post, you made me smile.
