August 27, 2022 at 1:17 am PDT is a new Moon in Virgo. Earth sign Virgo rules the sixth house of health, work, and service to others. Virgo loves organization, so use this next week to put your affairs in order and prioritize your important tasks because Mercury will be retrograde from September 9 to October 2. We can feel the Mercury retrograde influence one week before and one week after. The new Moon and Sun in Virgo square Mars in Gemini. Disagreements can seem to come out of nowhere, and a minor incident could trigger major responses. Fortunately, Mercury newly in Libra trines Mars and Pluto bringing courage to address problems and say what’s on your mind. There’s an interest in what’s below the surface, and negotiations can get to the heart of the matter.

This new Moon begins the lunar month of the Phoenix (Rooster) who correlates to Virgo. Of the five Taoist elements Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood, this is the month of the Earth Phoenix, the fortunate golden Phoenix who is safe and protected throughout life. Earth qualities suit the temperament of Phoenix who is honest, practical, industrious, and prudent.

If close relationships experience rocky moments, note that Venus in Leo is opposite Saturn and squares Uranus. Duties and responsibilities could take precedence over warmth and tenderness. Creativity is at a low point, so make the appropriate adjustments in your relationships and do not make significant changes based on a whim.

This Earth lunar month is time to focus on realistic, earthly matters. Opportunities are strongest for Earth signs Virgo, Capricorn, and Taurus and those born in Phoenix, Ox, Dragon, and Snake years.

Happy new Moon,
Susan
