Introduction to Tarot in Chinese

Introduction to Tarot was originally created as a part of The Complete Tarot Kit that includes this introductory book plus two decks of tarot cards. The Complete Tarot Kit was so popular that tarot readers who already had their own cards asked my publisher to publish the introductory book on its own. Thank you to everyone who requested that Introduction to Tarot be published solo.

And thank you to the publishers of the foreign editions in Russian and Chinese!

Introduction to Tarot offers a comprehensive guide with detailed explanations of both the Rider-Waite-Smith and Crowley Thoth decks, the two best-selling tarot decks of all time. This beautiful four-color book is richly illustrated with every card from both decks as well as artwork from other popular decks. This book includes instructions for understanding tarot structure and symbolism, basic and advanced card spreads, numerology, court cards, and other tarot topics. This is a book that will inspire both the novice and the seasoned reader to delve deeper into the meaning of tarot. Susan Levitt is a professional tarot reader, astrologer, and feng shui consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the author of The Complete Tarot Kit, Teen Feng Shui, Taoist Feng Shui, and Taoist Astrology.

“This is a clear and compact guide, with many gems stored inside it. Levitt presents the Tarot as a way to join with the rhythms of nature, as natural as the yin and yang of breath.” – Rachel Pollack, author of Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom.

Introduction to Tarot in Russian

My book Introduction to Tarot started as a collection of notes from years of teaching tarot classes. Tarot is so visual that it’s easier to learn by comparing two tarot decks. So I put together an introductory booklet with detailed explanations for both the Rider-Waite-Smith illustrated tarot deck by Pamela Coleman Smith and the Crowley Thoth tarot deck illustrated by Lady Freida Harris. But I kept adding info based on the most common questions from students. What started as a little tarot booklet eventually became Introduction to Tarot.

RAVE REVIEWS for INTRODUCTION TO TAROT

“This is my Tarot Bible! It is well loved and well worn. After almost 9 years of love. I’ve tried taping the side of the book back many times, but after just as many times it kept coming off. I’m now keeping it on one of my many Moon in Cancer keepsake boxes because The Complete Tarot Kit really is, and always will be, one of my greatest treasures! Thank you for continuing to share your amazing gift for teaching with all of us, Susan.”
– Jennifer London, tarot card reader, Nashville TN

"Tarot Bible"

The well-used and well-loved “Tarot Bible.”

“I have a BAZILLION books on Tarot and they are all wonderful. I cycle through them and re-read them etc. But you know how you have that one book that is like the mother of them all? It’s the most worn, the most referred to and the one you always go back to? Yeah, that’s “Introduction to Tarot” in my book case. She’s like the mama.”
– Kerry Tarot, tarot card reader, Chicago IL

“Thank you so much for writing the Book “Introduction to Tarot”! I recently purchased your book and I’ve just started reading it! I’m only on page 27 but so far I have learned more about Tarot in just those few pages than I have in a year of doing research!  I don’t usually write letters like these, but I am so grateful for this book that I just had to speak my mind and let you know! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the world!”
A.K Jones, Chicago IL

“This book is an excellent introduction to the tarot for those of us who want to study this ancient art but do not know where to embark. It is written in such a way that it stimulates the imagination and gently opens the door to the world of archetypes and magic.”
– Candis Canton, author and creator of Herbal Tarot

“Susan Levitt’s charming book offers newcomers a gentle and creative introduction to the tarot. Neither oversimplified nor overcomplicated, Introduction to Tarot contains good basic ideas presented in an accessible and attractive way.”
– Cynthia Giles, author of The Tarot: History, Mystery, and Lore and The Tarot: Methods, Mastery, and More

“Of all the tarot books I’ve reviewed, and I’ve looked at over fifty of them, Introduction to Tarot is the clearest and easiest to understand and apply.”
– Diane Conner, collage artist, San Francisco CA

“I was recently given your book “Introduction to Tarot” as a present by a friend tarot reader. I keep referring to it – can’t put it down. Thank you for writing such a great guide. I am a latecomer to Tarot, having recently retired and hoping the memorizing of the cards will help keep my mind clear and active into old age, and at the same time, eventually give help to others. ”
– Bob Jowett, retired teacher, Seattle WA

“This book is just magnificent. You must be very proud of it. The size is perfect, the colors spectacular and the text is engaging. I especially liked your dedication as I am one of your past/present/future students! Thank you.”
– Gavin W. Young, Jr., tarot card reader, life coach, and counselor

“I recently got given your Introduction to Tarot for my birthday by my best friend. I have always been very interested in astrology, meditation and wanted to learn how to read tarot so much. Your guide was the ideal introduction. Our summer break is coming to an end here in Paris and I have now completed the 30 day 3 card spread journal. Now that I can recognize most of the cards, I hardly need to look at the book. It feels great to have accomplished something I’ve always wanted to do. I wanted to thank you for making such a good kit for beginners. Every single card is extremely well explained and I look forwards to discovering the many, many different spreads! Thanks again and keep it up!”
– Lindsay, age 14, tarot beginner, Paris France
